League Two

England

About the League

League Two is the fourth tier of English football, contested by 24 clubs over a 46-game season with three automatic promotion places to League One and a play-off for a fourth. Bromley are the reigning champions after taking the 2025-26 title with 87 points.

League Two is the fourth tier of the English football league system and the lowest of the three divisions run by the English Football League, sitting below the Championship and League One and above the National League. The division took its current name in 2004, when the EFL rebranded what had previously been the Third Division, and it has been contested by 24 professional clubs ever since. Each side plays 46 league matches across a season that runs from early August to early May. Promotion is unusually generous by English standards. The top three clubs go up automatically to League One, while the teams finishing fourth to seventh enter a play-off whose final decides a fourth promotion place. At the foot of the table the bottom two clubs are relegated to the National League. Bromley are the reigning champions after winning the 2025-26 title with 87 points, the club's first fourth-tier crown, with MK Dons, Cambridge United and Notts County joining them in going up. Much of League Two's appeal lies in its unpredictability and its history. Long-established Football League names share the division with clubs who have climbed out of the non-league game, and crowds are strong for a fourth tier. It is also a proving ground: young players sent out on loan from Premier League and Championship academies often get their first taste of senior football here, and managers regularly build promotion sides on small budgets. OneLightScore follows League Two throughout the season with live scores updated minute by minute on Saturday afternoons and midweek nights, the full fixture list and results archive, an up-to-date league table with promotion, play-off and relegation zones colour-coded, and where-to-watch details wherever broadcast information is available for a match.
