Levante 3-3 Sevilla: Four Added-Time Goals, a Red Card and a Point Each in LaLiga Round 8

Levante and Sevilla played out the most chaotic finish of LaLiga Round 8, drawing 3-3 at the Estadi Ciutat de València after four goals arrived inside ten minutes of added time. Sevilla led 1-0 at the break and were still 3-2 up deep into stoppage time, but Ifeanyi Ndukwe's 90+10 equaliser - moments after Isaac Romero had scored at one end and been sent off at the other - split the points and left Sevilla staring at a two-point swing they will feel they lost rather than one they earned.

A first half Sevilla controlled, a second half nobody did

The opening 45 minutes belonged to the visitors. Sevilla carried the better of the chances, kept Levante at arm's length and went in 1-0 up, and with the scoreline still intact as the hour passed this looked like a routine away win in the making. It was anything but. The second half disintegrated into five goals and a stoppage-time sequence that will be replayed all week.

Levante, roared on by a Ciutat de València crowd that never let the noise drop, dragged themselves level and then pushed in front as the game opened up. Sevilla answered twice, and with the clock past 90 minutes the visitors led 3-2 and looked home. What followed was remarkable: four goals inside the final ten minutes of added time, a passage of play in which Romero scored at 90+5, was shown a red card at 90+6, and Ndukwe slammed in the equaliser at 90+10 to make it 3-3.

What the numbers say

The platform's match data captures how little either defence settled. Sevilla edged the expected-goals battle 2.53 to 1.96, but Levante were the sharper side where it counted: eight shots on target to Sevilla's five and a 3.15 to 2.61 edge in expected goals on target. Neither goalkeeper covered themselves in a game where six of the combined 13 efforts on target beat them - a draw was, in the end, exactly what the chance creation deserved.

What it means for the table

For Levante, the point continues a brave home campaign built on exactly this kind of refusal to fold, and the three goals against a Sevilla side that came to control will encourage a team scrapping at the wrong end of the division. For Sevilla, this is a damaging result to carry into October: a lead twice held after the 90th minute, a player suspended for the red card, and two points dropped that a side chasing the European places cannot afford to keep leaving behind.

Levante will take heart from a contest in which they were never out of it; Sevilla will spend the week working out how a managed game got away from them twice. Both sides are back in LaLiga action next weekend with Round 9, and both arrive with something to prove - one that it can finish the job, the other that it can stop games running away.
