Jamal Musiala has taken the next step in his recovery. The Bayern Munich midfielder is back on the training pitch at Säbener Straße, working individually as he rebuilds from the torn muscle fibre in his right thigh that has kept him out since the middle of September.

From scan to grass
The injury was sustained on international duty, in the warm-up before Germany's draw with the Netherlands, and the initial assessment put him out for three to four weeks. Kicker's Manuel Krischel reported that Musiala has now rejoined the rehabilitation group on the grass, with team training the next milestone. The soft tissue timeline appears to be holding.
For Vincent Kompany, the return cannot come quickly enough. Bayern went into the international break trailing Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table, and the club's leadership spent their Oktoberfest appearances fielding questions about the early-season gap rather than the title pace the squad was built for.
Managed minutes, not a rushed return
The plan, as it was on his previous return this season, is caution. Musiala's first appearance of the campaign came off a managed recovery, and Kompany's language then suggested the recovery, not the fixture list, would set the pace from here. The visit of Augsburg in Matchday 5 is the first realistic target, with Bayern holding their second full squad session of the week as the internationals trickle back.
Bayern's medical staff will keep the workload light until he rejoins the group, and the midfielder's own history argues for patience: this is the second soft-tissue interruption of his season, and the value of a fully fit Musiala in the spring outweighs a fortnight of hurry now.
A creative void is the polite way to describe what Bayern have looked like without him. If the individual sessions become team sessions without a setback, Musiala could be back in the matchday squad before the calendar turns heavy again.
