Gouiri and Harit Close on Returns as Marseille Count the Cost of the Break
Amine Gouiri and Amine Harit are training again and could make Sunday's trip to Troyes, but Marseille restart Ligue 1 without Cornelius, with Abdelli a doubt and Højbjerg a scare — and Weah suspended.

Marseille's trip to Troyes on Sunday was always going to be about who is available rather than how the table looks. The good news from La Commanderie is that Amine Gouiri and Amine Harit are both closing on returns after training individually through the back end of the week, with L'Équipe suggesting the pair can hope to rejoin the group in the coming days.

Gouiri: day to day
Gouiri, the club's top scorer with four goals this season, limped out of Algeria's win over Zambia with a thigh complaint and returned home for treatment. His week since has been a mixed picture: a larger share of Monday's session, then separate work on Tuesday as a precaution. He has not been ruled out of the Troyes match, but nothing about his programme so far guarantees it either.
The rest of the list
Behind the two possible returns, the absences are firm. Derek Cornelius is not expected to feature again in 2026 after the hip injury he suffered with Canada, Himad Abdelli is a doubt after hurting his left ankle against Burundi, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg's early exit from Denmark's last fixture gave the medical staff one more scare to assess. Captain Timothy Weah, meanwhile, is suspended for Matchday 6 after his sending-off in OM-PSG, robbing the side of its captain and its most experienced wide option in one stroke.
The context makes the stakes plain. Marseille plunged toward the relegation zone before the break, and another defeat at third-from-bottom Troyes would equal the club's longest losing streak in the top flight over the last forty years. A side this depleted does not get to choose how it wins — only that it must.
If Gouiri and Harit both clear the week, the attacking options at least look like a top-flight attack again. If neither does, Troyes becomes a night for whoever is left standing.
