Moise Kean Injury: Como Striker Sent Home From Italy Camp With Roma Clash in Doubt

Como striker Moise Kean has been sent home early from Italy's international camp after failing to recover from a knock, putting his availability for Sunday's home meeting with Roma in doubt as Serie A prepares to resume after the break.

Kean did not train with the Azzurri on Sunday and, with Italy closing their Nations League programme against Türkiye, head coach Roberto Mancini confirmed the forward "has been sent home early because he hasn't recovered from a knock". The medical staff took the same precaution they had with Nicolò Zaniolo and Giacomo Raspadori, and Mancini is expected to hand Gianluca Scamacca the start against Türkiye in Kean's place.

What it means for Como

Kean had started the 1-1 draw away to France in Paris as part of a front three alongside Sebastiano and Pio Esposito, despite carrying the problem into the match. Como's medical team will now assess their striker to determine whether he can face Roma at the weekend, in a fixture that had already looked set to define Cesc Fàbregas's start to the campaign.

A costly break for Serie A

Kean is the highest-profile casualty of an international window that has hit Serie A clubs unusually hard. Elsewhere on the list:

  • Cagliari midfielder Alessandro Deiola has undergone surgery on his left knee to clean up the meniscus and is expected back between the end of October and the beginning of November.
  • Antonio Raimondo is managing an issue with his right Achilles tendon.
  • Franz Ethan Maightree has sustained a hip muscle injury and is expected to miss the next round.
  • The tests on Francesco Conceição's thigh were reassuring — Juventus expect the winger to be available, with scans showing only a bruise.

For Como, the next 48 hours are about the scans rather than the speculation: until the club's doctors read the results, Kean stays a doubt rather than an absentee. OneLightScore will carry confirmed team news for Como vs Roma as soon as line-ups land.
