The Cymru Premier is the top division of football in Wales. Founded in 1992 as the League of Wales, later known as the Welsh Premier League and renamed the Cymru Premier in 2019, it sits at the summit of the Welsh football pyramid and provides the country's club entrants to European competition. Sixteen clubs contest the competition this season. The campaign opens with a full home-and-away regular phase, after which the league splits into groups: the leading six enter the championship group and play out the title and Champions League qualification, the next group competes for a European place through the Conference League play-offs, and the bottom group plays to avoid relegation into the Cymru North and Cymru South leagues. Based at Park Hall, they are the reigning champions and hold the record with 18 league titles, and their regular appearances in Champions League and Europa League qualifying have raised the profile of the Welsh game abroad.
