About the League
LaLiga2 is the 22-club second tier of Spanish football, where the top two go up automatically to LaLiga and third to sixth fight out a promotion play-off. Racing Santander are the reigning champions, while Real Murcia hold the record with eight titles.
LaLiga2 is the second tier of Spanish professional football, sitting directly below LaLiga and known through its sponsorship as LaLiga Hypermotion. Founded in 1929, the same year Spain's national league structure was created, it has grown into one of the most competitive and closely followed second divisions in world football, valued as much for its unpredictability as for the size of the clubs that pass through it. Twenty-two teams contest the season, each playing 42 league matches home and away between August and the end of May. The top two finishers earn automatic promotion to LaLiga, while the clubs placed third through sixth enter a knockout promotion play-off that decides the third and final ticket to the top flight. The bottom four are relegated to Primera Federacion, Spain's third tier, which makes the closing weeks tense at both ends of the table. Racing Santander were crowned champions of the 2025-26 campaign. On the all-time roll of honour Real Murcia stand alone at the top with eight Segunda Division titles. The division regularly features clubs with long top-flight pedigrees, and recent line-ups have included Cadiz, Las Palmas, Real Oviedo, Girona, Leganes, Albacete and Cordoba, alongside reserve sides such as Real Sociedad B that develop the next generation of Spanish talent. OneLightScore follows LaLiga2 from the opening weekend through to the final play-off tie, with live scores updated in real time, full fixture lists, match results, an up-to-date league table with the promotion and relegation zones marked, top scorer charts and where-to-watch information for every round. Whether you are tracking a promotion race, a relegation battle or a single club's season, the LaLiga2 pages bring the whole division together in one place.
