About the League

Canada's eight-club top flight, launched in 2019 and decided by the North Star Cup play-offs. Forge FC are the record champions with four titles and Atletico Ottawa are the current holders.

The Canadian Premier League is the top tier of professional men's football in Canada. Founded in 2017 and launched with its inaugural season in 2019, the CPL was created to give Canadian players a domestic professional pathway and to bring senior league football to cities stretching from Victoria to Halifax. Eight clubs contest the 2026 campaign: Forge FC, Cavalry FC, Atletico Ottawa, Vancouver FC, Pacific FC, HFX Wanderers, Inter Toronto FC (rebranded from York United ahead of this season) and expansion side FC Supra du Quebec, which takes the league into the Montreal area for the first time and replaces Valour FC after the Winnipeg club suspended operations at the end of 2025. The season runs from spring to late autumn rather than across the winter. Clubs play a balanced regular-season schedule, and the team that finishes top of the table takes the CPL Shield along with a berth in the Concacaf Champions Cup. The top four then enter the North Star Cup play-offs, with semi-finals leading into a one-off final that decides the champion. There is no promotion or relegation; the CPL sits at the head of an emerging Canadian pyramid alongside the regional League1 competitions. Forge FC of Hamilton are the most successful club, with four championships in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023. Atletico Ottawa are the reigning champions after beating Cavalry FC 2-1 in a November 2025 final played in heavy snow in Ottawa, the first title in the club's history. Cavalry won in 2024 and Pacific FC took the 2021 crown. OneLightScore covers the Canadian Premier League with live scores, the full fixture list, final results, an up-to-date standings table with the play-off places marked, form guides and where-to-watch information for every match.
