Luis Enrique warns PSG fans: expect three players out every week after Digne omission

Paris Saint-Germain supporters need a new rule: the names on the team sheet will keep changing. Hours after a home defeat to Monaco left PSG winless after three Ligue 1 matches, Luis Enrique said supporters must prepare to see three players left out every week.

Fabrizio Romano reported the coach's explanation for Lucas Digne being omitted from the squad: "You need to start get ready to see three players out every week." The line is a policy statement from a manager who has just signed a contract extension through 2030 and still has no league win this season.

Sky Sports News and The Athletic confirmed the new deal on Friday, before kick-off against Filipe Luis's Monaco. PSG also announced extensions for Senny Mayulu, Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz, Willian Pacho and Lucas Beraldo. The night meant to celebrate continuity ended in a first Ligue 1 loss of the campaign, after earlier draws with Rennes and Lille.

Enrique did not hide from the start. Romano relayed his line on zero wins in three games: "If you want to bet on who will be champions, let's bet, but I'm saying nothing." On the Monaco performance he added that if the same match were replayed ten times, PSG would win eight. Monaco manager Filipe Luis called Enrique not just the best manager in the world but one of the best ever.

Going forward, the squad news matters more than the scoreline. Digne's omission is the first public example of a rotation Enrique has now put on the record. Three players will sit every week, and that changes how every PSG team sheet should be read.

The club has locked the coach in until 2030 after a period that includes back-to-back Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 crowns, according to Sky Sports News. The domestic table currently shows a champion without a win. Enrique's message is that selection, not speeches, will decide whether that changes.
