Barcola in line for Liverpool debut as Ipswich vs Liverpool goes live on TV

The Friday night Premier League kick-off is Ipswich vs Liverpool from Portman Road — and the story is a new Liverpool shirt. Bradley Barcola, signed from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal reported at up to about £123 million, is in contention for his first appearance as the Reds chase their first league win of 2026-27.

Kick-off is 20:00 BST on Friday 4 September 2026. In the United Kingdom the match is on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with coverage from 19:00 BST; non-Sky customers can use a NOW pass. In the United States it is listed on USA Network, with streaming via the NBC Sports app and NBCSports.com.

Liverpool arrive with two points from two games after 2-2 draws with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest. Head coach Andoni Iraola completed the Barcola deal late in the window after missing deadline-day additions. The France winger is the most expensive arrival of Liverpool’s summer and the first new attacking option available for this round.

Ipswich, back in the Premier League, opened with a 2-1 win over Sunderland then lost 5-2 at Manchester United. Gary O’Neil’s side host under the Portman Road lights looking to halt that slide. Liverpool have not won in the league this season; a first three points would also be the first public test of whether Barcola is ready for immediate minutes.

Official team sheets will confirm whether Barcola starts or is among the substitutes. Until then, the hard news is the registration and the listing: he is a Liverpool player, available for selection, and the fixture opens the Premier League weekend.

Treat Barcola’s involvement as the story inside the match, not a prediction of the result. The transfer is complete. The broadcast windows are set. The rest will be settled on the pitch at 20:00 BST.
