Araujo starts at right-back as Liverpool visit Ipswich

Araujo named at right-back for Ipswich vs Liverpool

Ronald Araujo starts at right-back for Liverpool in Ipswich vs Liverpool at Portman Road. The selection is the first hard signal of how the Reds intend to use their summer signing on a Friday night in the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Araujo starts at right-back and that versatility was one of the key reasons Liverpool proceeded with the signing, convinced he can cover both right-back and centre-back. The Uruguayan has already been introduced from the bench in earlier fixtures; tonight is a different brief.

The official Premier League account posted the travelling party arriving at Portman Road, with Bradley Barcola pictured with the Liverpool squad and a link to published team news for Matchweek 3. Kick-off is 19:00 UTC on 4 September 2026. Ipswich host at a ground with a capacity of 30,017.

The story is not a predicted XI. It is a named starter in a position Liverpool specifically valued when they signed him. Viewers tuning into Ipswich vs Liverpool will see whether that right-back brief holds for 90 minutes or whether Araujo is later shifted inside.

Sky Sports News previewed Friday Night Football around the same fixture, asking whether Barcola can make the difference for Liverpool.

Squad context around the visit is limited to what clubs and reporters have put on the record. Araujo starts. Barcola travelled with the group. Team news has been published on the Premier League site.
