Six contracts sealed before kick-off

Ligue 1 has a different story to follow this weekend than a simple Paris Saint-Germain title procession. Hours before they hosted Monaco, the club announced six new contracts — head coach Luis Enrique through June 2030, plus extensions for William Pacho, Lucas Beraldo, João Neves, Senny Mayulu and Fabián Ruiz.

Fabrizio Romano reported the official terms as Enrique to June 2030; Pacho, Beraldo, Neves and Mayulu to June 2031; and Ruiz to June 2028. Sky Sports News and The Athletic confirmed the same package: Enrique’s previous deal had been due to expire at the end of this season, and the club put the news out on Friday before the Ligue 1 fixture against Filipe Luís’ Monaco.

That announcement was meant to frame a night of celebration. Instead, PSG remain winless after three Ligue 1 matches. After draws with Rennes and Lille, Enrique’s side lost at home to Monaco. The Athletic noted the contrast explicitly: new deals for the coach and five players, then a first league defeat of the campaign in front of their own supporters.

What the official statement actually covered

The club’s communication was a contract story, not a squad-list story. No player was omitted from a matchday selection in the announcement. The names attached to new paper were specific: two centre-backs (Pacho and Beraldo), two midfielders already central to Enrique’s midfield (Neves and Ruiz), academy midfielder Mayulu, and the head coach himself.

Sky Sports News placed Enrique’s extension in the context of the trophy run he has already overseen in Paris, including back-to-back Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 championships. None of that changes the league table after three games: the champions have not yet won in the domestic season.

Where to watch the next Ligue 1 matches depends on your territory and the rights holder in that market. The confirmed news is the contract package and the result that followed it: the six extensions are the club’s official statement of continuity, and the Monaco defeat is the first hard result of that new paper.
