Gabriel Martinelli leaves Arsenal for Al-Hilal
Arsenal have confirmed the permanent departure of Gabriel Martinelli to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. The Brazilian winger joins on a four-year contract in a deal reported around £60 million, setting a new club-record sale for the Gunners.
Martinelli made 278 appearances for Arsenal after joining from Ituano in 2019, scoring 62 goals. He contributed to the Premier League title last season as well as the FA Cup and Community Shield during his time in north London.
Arsenal’s official statement thanked the 25-year-old for his contribution and wished him well. Al-Hilal also announced the signing, highlighting Martinelli’s international experience with Brazil, including the 2022 and 2026 World Cups.
The move comes after Martinelli found himself outside Mikel Arteta’s matchday squads at the start of the new campaign. Al-Hilal continue to strengthen their attack under Simone Inzaghi as they target domestic and continental success.
For Arsenal the fee provides significant funds heading into the remainder of the window and beyond, while Martinelli seeks regular football and a new challenge in the Middle East.
