Isak fires Liverpool to first win of the season

Alexander Isak announced his return to form with a rapid brace as Liverpool beat Ipswich Town 2-0 on Friday night, giving new head coach Andoni Iraola his first Premier League victory.

The Sweden international struck in the sixth and ninth minutes at Portman Road, both goals assisted by Cody Gakpo. Liverpool controlled the contest after the early surge and introduced record signing Bradley Barcola for his debut in the second half.

Ipswich struggled to recover from the early double. Gary O’Neil’s side created limited clear chances against a solid Reds defence.

The result lifts Liverpool after two opening draws and provides momentum ahead of Champions League action against Atletico Madrid midweek.
