The team that created almost nothing on paper won. The team that created everything did not. Sporting Kansas City posted 2.79 expected goals and 26 shots. FC Dallas posted 1.25 — and still left with a 4-3 scoreline.

Dallas won it. First half 3-2. Second half 1-1. Calheira T. scored twice for Kansas City. Farrington L., Musa P. and Kaick answered for the hosts before Calheira struck again on 78.

Key Moments

Calheira opened it in the fourth minute. Afrifa S. made it 2-0 on 19. Dallas needed eight minutes to start the chase: Farrington finished from a Musa assist on 27, then Musa scored himself on 30 after Kamungo B. found him.

Kaick put Dallas ahead just before the break, Farrington with the assist. That 3-2 lead at half-time felt fragile because Kansas City kept shooting. After a flurry of changes, Calheira equalized on 78 from a Karic E. pass. Dallas held the last twelve minutes. Mosquera M. was booked on 88. No further goal arrived.

Why it matters

Dallas climb to seventh with 37 points from 23 matches (45 scored, 40 conceded). Kansas City stay 30th with 15 points from 23 (23 scored, 58 conceded). A side that arrived on LLDLL created the better chance volume and still dropped the points. That is the table talking as loudly as the xG.
