Betis 1-0 Getafe: Isco magic settles tight Andalusian encounter

Real Betis secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Getafe at the Estadio de La Cartuja, with Francisco Roman's first-half strike proving enough to separate the sides in a tightly contested LaLiga encounter. The result sees Manuel Pellegrini's side maintain their strong start to the season, while Getafe are left to reflect on a fourth defeat in five matches.

The only goal of the game arrived on 28 minutes and was a moment of individual brilliance from former Real Madrid midfielder Isco. The Spanish international received the ball 25 yards from goal, jinked past two challenges, and unleashed a curling effort that nestled into the top corner past Getafe goalkeeper David Soria.

Getafe had the better of the second half, with Jaime Mata and Mason Greenwood both testing Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva. However, the Andalusian side's defence, marshalled by German Pezzella, held firm to preserve their clean sheet and secure all three points.

The victory sees Betis climb to 6th in the table on 10 points, just two points behind early pacesetters Barcelona. Getafe, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone on just 3 points from 5 matches.

Isco showed today why he's still one of the best players in this league. That was a goal of real quality. We needed that moment of magic because Getafe made it very difficult for us.Manuel Pellegrini, Real Betis manager, post-match press conference, Estadio de La Cartuja, September 17, 2026
