Bayern Munich 7-0 Union Berlin: Olise hat-trick caps Allianz Arena rout

Bayern Munich tore Union Berlin apart at the Allianz Arena, winning 7-0 in Round 4 of the Bundesliga behind a Michael Olise hat-trick and a brace from Harry Kane. The visitors were three down by half-time and conceded four more after it.

Three before the break

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring on 18 minutes, turning in a pass from Alphonso Davies. It was a pointed contribution from a player whose minutes have been carefully managed since his return from injury, and it set the tone for a half Union spent chasing shadows.

Felix Uduokhai was booked on 38 minutes, and a minute later Kane doubled the lead from the penalty spot. Union's discipline frayed further when Khedira went into the book on 42, and by 43 the game was effectively finished: Musiala turned provider for Olise, who swept in the third. Dayot Upamecano picked up a yellow in first-half stoppage time, the only blemish on an otherwise untroubled Bayern evening.

Four more after it

Upamecano was replaced by Kim Min-Jae at the interval, and Bayern picked up where they had left off. Kane claimed his second on 54 minutes, set up by Olise, to make it four.

The substitutions then wrote the rest of the story. Ismael Saibari, on for Luis Diaz at 63, scored within seven minutes of arriving, converting Davies' second assist of the night. Tom Bischof, introduced at the same time, then supplied Olise twice inside three minutes — on 73 and again on 76 — to complete the winger's hat-trick and take the score to seven.

Kane was withdrawn for Serge Gnabry on 77 with the job long since done. Livan Burcu was booked on 78, and Bayern saw out the closing stages without adding to the tally.

For Bayern, the result is a statement of depth as much as quality. Two of the seven goals came from players introduced from the bench, and the two assists that finished Union off came from a substitute who had been on the pitch barely ten minutes.
