Arsenal Open Season with 3-0 Win Over Coventry as £51m Konsa is Unveiled
Arsenal kicked off their 2026/27 Premier League campaign in emphatic fashion on August 21, securing a commanding 3-0 victory against newly-promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium.
Attacking Trio Shines
The Gunners wasted no time asserting their dominance over the newly-promoted side. Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed quickly by a Bukayo Saka strike in the 23rd minute to give Arsenal a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the break. Captain Martin Ødegaard sealed the victory shortly after the restart, finding the net in the 49th minute to cap off a brilliant attacking display.
Konsa Unveiled to Emirates Crowd
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Arsenal finalized the signing of England defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa for a reported fee of £51 million just hours before the match. Although unveiled to the jubilant home fans before kickoff, Konsa did not feature against Coventry due to his registration being finalized too late for the matchday squad.
The highly-rated center-back is expected to be available for the next fixture on August 31, which will fittingly see him face off against his former club, Aston Villa, as Arsenal looks to continue their strong start to the season.
