Haaland Milestone Seals Narrow City Win

Erling Haaland reached a major personal landmark on Saturday as his header secured a 1-0 victory for Manchester City against newly promoted Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium.

The goal, Haaland's third of the season, was his 300th in club football across spells at Molde, Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and City. It came in the 26th minute from an Antoine Semenyo cross after a pass by debutant Enzo Fernandez.

City were far from fluent and needed late saves from Gianluigi Donnarumma to preserve the clean sheet and their perfect start under new manager Enzo Maresca. Coventry remain without a point or a goal since returning to the top flight.

The result temporarily placed City top of the table ahead of Arsenal's clash with Chelsea on Sunday.
