A contract night that ended without a win

Friday handed Ligue 1 two hard facts in the same window: Paris Saint-Germain announced six new contracts, then lost at home to Monaco and stayed winless after three league games.

Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports News both reported the official paperwork. Luis Enrique signed through June 2030. William Pacho, Lucas Beraldo, Joao Neves and Senny Mayulu were listed through June 2031. Fabian Ruiz signed until June 2028. The club put the extensions out before kick-off against Filipe Luis's Monaco.

The match did not follow the announcement. After draws with Rennes and Lille, PSG lost at home. The Athletic recorded the result as a Monaco win in Paris, leaving Enrique's side still without a Ligue 1 victory this season.

What the extensions actually cover

Enrique's previous deal had been due to expire at the end of the season. Sky Sports News noted the 56-year-old has overseen back-to-back Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 championships in Paris. The player extensions cover the spine the club wants to keep: Pacho and Beraldo in defence, Ruiz and Neves in midfield, and Mayulu as a contracted academy graduate.

The list tells anyone following PSG which names the club has chosen to tie down after the window closed, ahead of the next Paris home date on the Ligue 1 calendar.

The result also resets the table conversation. Three matches, no wins, and a home defeat immediately after a contract show. The Athletic framed the evening as a planned celebration that ended in a loss.

The night came down to the paperwork and the scoreline: six extensions, including the head coach to 2030, and a home defeat to Monaco that leaves PSG still searching for a first league win of 2026-27.
