Spalletti: McKennie, Cambiaso and Sarr out of Juve vs Milan

Juventus go into the Milan game with a stripped midfield. Luciano Spalletti has now said it on the record: Weston McKennie, Andrea Cambiaso and Pape Matar Sarr will not be available against AC Milan.

Italian outlets circulating Spalletti’s briefing, and match-week reports citing Gazzetta dello Sport, list Cabal, Cambiaso, Sarr and McKennie among the players in the treatment room, on top of longer-term absentees Khephren Thuram, Kenan Yildiz and Ekhator. Cabal is framed as roughly a month out. Ekhator is in a 45-to-50-day window. McKennie is carrying persistent muscle fatigue. Sarr is still working back from a muscle problem that began before he left Tottenham. Cambiaso has a sprained ankle.

Spalletti’s public hope was that a couple of those pieces might return the following week. That is a recovery timeline, not a promise for this fixture. Club-adjacent reports added that Cambiaso could be assessed late for a place on the bench, but the head coach’s confirmed line for Milan is that the trio of McKennie, Cambiaso and Sarr are out.

The absences bite in the same zone of the pitch. McKennie and Sarr are midfield minutes. Cambiaso is a first-choice full-back. Combined with Thuram and Yildiz already on the long list, Spalletti is short of the players who would normally rotate through a Milan week. Juan Cabal’s month-long outlook keeps another defender off the board.

None of that decides how Juventus vs Milan will finish. It does explain why the XI and the bench will look thinner than the squad list published at the close of the window. Until an official match-day sheet is released, take Spalletti at his word: McKennie, Cambiaso and Sarr are not in.
