Feyenoord’s 3-1 win over NEC has a new name attached to it: Jerayno Schaken. At 17 years and 79 days old, he is now the youngest player to score on an Eredivisie debut for Feyenoord.
Fabrizio Romano reported the record on Sunday morning. Schaken is also the club's second-youngest goalscorer of any kind, behind only Georginio Wijnaldum.
What the record means
Feyenoord beat NEC 3-1 on the road. A first-team teenager who scores on debut is no longer a development footnote; he is now part of the matchday conversation.
The club has long sold academy products into Europe's bigger leagues. Wijnaldum's name on the same shortlist is the historical marker. Schaken's age and the debut context are what separate this from a routine away win.
Where to watch
The next Feyenoord fixture will be shown by the licensed Eredivisie rights holder in each market. Broadcast details had not been confirmed at the time of writing, so check the official listing closer to kick-off.
The next Feyenoord squad sheet is the first place to look for Schaken's name. The record is already in the book. Selection for the following match is a separate decision for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
