Anyone expecting Bayern's usual front line at Schalke got a surprise from the team sheet. Official Bayern channels posted a much-changed starting XI for the first Bundesliga away fixture of the season, with Harry Kane and Michael Olise named among the substitutes.

Ismael Saibari started for the first time in the Bundesliga. Lennart Karl also started after a muscle injury. The official English account highlighted Saibari’s first league start; club-side graphics listed Kane, Jamal Musiala and Olise on the bench.

The confirmed XI

Bayern’s confirmed eleven: Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Davies; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Karl, Brown, Diaz; Saibari.

Musiala’s presence in the matchday squad is a separate fitness marker after earlier absences. Kane and Olise starting among the substitutes is the headline for supporters who tuned in to see those two.
