Juventus goalkeeper Kamil Grabara faces up to seven months on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the club have announced.

The Poland international felt discomfort in his right knee during a routine training session and scans confirmed the worst-case scenario: a torn ACL. He underwent the operation in his homeland, and the early estimates point to a rehabilitation measured in many months rather than weeks.

The injury is a bitter blow for a goalkeeper who had only just begun his Juventus career. Signed on loan from Wolfsburg after a summer reshuffle that saw Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin move on, Grabara had made his debut in the Europa League league-phase meeting with NEC Nijmegen and was expected to compete with Guglielmo Vicario, who arrived on loan from Tottenham, for the starting jersey.
